Caveat: The rumors of SoCal's plentitude of cute boys are greatly exaggerated. It's really not very different than the situation in Minnesota, or (I suspect) most other places. Then again, my standards may differ from yours; mileage may vary.

Tonight a friend loaned me the New Pornographers' latest, "Twin Cinema." I must say I was a little wary about listening to it. My experience with their older stuff was that it was totally awesome--until I listened to them for the fifteenth time and suddenly became completely sick of their sound. Exact same thing happened to me with the Dandy Warhols around the same time. It was sad indeed. It remains to be seen whether or not this disc will have greater staying power. But, for the moment, I really like what they've done with this album--they've taken their ridiculously catchy, upbeat rocking and added a Polyphonic Spree-esque choir. And still plenty of prominent piano. Yay for harmonic rock! Lyrics still make no sense, though.

Man, Questionable Content is having drama! I audibly squealed when I read this strip. If you read QC, you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, well, you need to spend the next five hours reading the archives. Seriously, man.

Wow, I am such a fangirl tonight. Le swoon, indeed. 'Night, y'all!
